SICL hosted the inaugural ‘The Event 2006’ at Elvington Circuit, York, on the 14th September 2006 with BBC Top Gear’s James May as the celebrity presenter. The Event occurred just weeks before Richard Hammond’s crash in the Vampire car at the same site.
Richard was collected from Elvington by Yorkshire Air Ambulance and flown to Leeds. The coincidences between The Event ’06 and Richard’s accident were uncanny: Elvington, Top Gear and Yorkshire Air Ambulance featuring in both.
