British Computer Society Award

SICL received a medallist award in the 'Community Project of the Year' at the British Computing Society’s UK IT industry awards.

From hundreds of entrants, to a shortlist of ten, SICL finished runner-up to Comic Relief at the Battersea Park Events Arena in London on the 12th November.

The medal award recognised the work done by SICL for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which benefits the Yorkshire community.  Focussing specifically on the Cisco Unified Communications project to provide enterprise-class communications on a charity budget the work received commendation from the judges.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides life-saving, rapid response medical care and has helped rescue thousands of patients in the region, covering every type of medical emergency in often remote and difficult to reach areas.  As a charity YAA have to raise donations equivalent to £7,000 a day.

SICL provides IT services including man-on-site support to Yorkshire Air Ambulance free of charge and also negotiates charitable pricing through established vendor relationships such as Cisco and Microsoft for the purchase of essential software and hardware.

SICL’s Managing Director Cliff Fox said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity bears a high cost for the helicopters and any savings that can be made in operations can be re-directed to core services which help keep the service airborne.  SICL is proud to play a part in helping to support such a vital emergency service”.

In addition to the above award SICL also received a Judges Commendation for CRN SME Reseller of the Year 2009  on 19th November 2009.
