BACKGROUND
Eminox is a privately-owned company, established since 1978, with its head office and manufacturing facilities in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, UK. Eminox designs and manufactures bespoke stainless steel exhausts and emission control systems for commercial vehicles.
Supplying to OE bus, truck, rail, and non-road vehicle manufacturers around the world as well as being the major European supplier of emission control exhaust systems for retrofit to vehicles already in service, the Eminox CRT® system is the market leading solution for reducing diesel exhaust particulate matter with more than 50,000 systems installed on trucks and buses throughout Europe.
Eminox has flexible manufacturing facilities designed to meet needs from high volume OE supply to bespoke retrofit systems, and the company uses advanced manufacturing techniques and adheres to Six Sigma methodologies.
SOLUTION
As part of a virtualisation project ongoing within the group it was decided to deploy a SAN in order that the business could gain the full benefit of VMware enterprise features such as HA, DRS and VMotion™. Following a review of manufacturer solutions Eminox, in consultation with SICL, decided to adopt Dell EqualLogic as the chosen solution.
Eminox selected Dell EqualLogic as the main storage solution to integrate with their existing VMWare, Exchange and SQL. SICL installed the Dell EqualLogic array and provided on-site knowledge transfer to provide supervised exposure and training on everyday tasks such as provisioning volumes, creating and managing snapshots.
The new arrays provide Eminox with a much more flexible environment where storage can be moved between virtual servers as and when required.
RESULT
The storage solution has proved to be a great success providing increased storage with greater flexibility and more cost-effective asset management through virtualisation.
